MAT HYGIENE: DEFENSE AGAINST BIOLOGICAL THREATS

The mat is a biological battlefield. Staph, ringworm, and mat burn are constant threats. Your gear is your first line of defense against skin infections.

Skin Barrier Protection

PHYSICAL BARRIER

DEFENSE: LONG SLEEVE PROTOCOL

We recommend long-sleeve rashguards and spats for optimal defense. Minimizing skin-to-mat contact drastically reduces the probability of contracting skin infections or suffering from friction burns.

Kit Rotation System

THE 3-KIT ROTATION

STRATEGY: ROTATION

Never reuse dirty gear. Bacteria multiplies rapidly in damp sweat. If you train 3 times a week, you need 3 separate kits. This allows each set to be washed and fully dried before its next use.

DECONTAMINATION PROTOCOL

  • Immediate Removal: Take off your gear immediately after the session. Don't drive home in it.
  • Bag It: Use a separate laundry bag for dirty gear to protect your gym bag.
  • Wash ASAP: The longer sweat sits on the fabric, the harder the smell is to remove.
